#EntertainmentPSB: “The Bachelor” – No. 9 to No. 16 – January 8, 2016

Taylor Johnson will bring us weekly updates from the hit TV series “The Bachelor.” She’ll breakdown fashion from the show and rank the remaining contestants on a weekly.

By: @KTaylorPSB

Ben Higgins, the 26-year-old star of the season, was quite the gentleman Monday night for his premier as the new bachelor for ABC. He greeted 28 women to the bachelor mansion, but I think there were a few women he wished he denied at the front door. This season is not short of any of the usual crazy personalities that The Bachelor producers never fail to entertain us with.

Here is a ranking of No. 9 to No. 16 remaining ladies from my favorite to least favorite:

9) Sam, 26: A recent graduate of law school, Sam rocked a red lace dress out of the limo. I am also obsessed with the two-piece outfit she wore in her intro package. Honestly, I’m just excited for her to stay around to see what outfit she is going to wear next.

10) Joelle “JoJo,” 24: We were introduced to her in a unicorn mask, but surprisingly she isn’t the token weirdo of the season. She tamed down the crazy when she talked to Ben inside the house, so if she keeps the unicorn mask in her suitcase she might move up in the rankings.

11) Tiara, 27: With an occupation like “chicken enthusiast” you are just asking to be labeled as the crazy one of the season. I am personally hoping she brings us as much entertainment as Tierra from Sean Lowe’s season. However, Ben mentioned how gorgeous she was several times so we might be seeing a lot more of her crazy for episodes to come.

12 & 13) Emily & Haley, 22: I don’t think they are competing as a package deal but their occupation is “twins” so they deserve to be lumped together. They are obviously both gorgeous and I can’t hate on them too much because they were rocking my favorite jewelry designer, Kendra Scott, throughout the episode.

14) Jubilee, 24: Her plunging neckline dress and horrible pickup line about her tight dress made it pretty obvious the reason she came on the show.

15) Amber, 30: Basically Amber is Becca’s wing woman. Sorry Amber, no one really remembers you from Chris Soule’s season. And to top it off, Amber’s frumpy dress was definitely the worst of the night.

16) LB, 23: LB reminded me of someone who just walked off an episode of The Hill (maybe it’s her name too).

Ben Higgins, the 26-year-old star of the season, was quite the gentleman Monday night for his premier as the new bachelor for ABC. This season is not short of any of the usual crazy personalities that “The Bachelor” producers never fail to entertain us with.

Here is a ranking of No. 17 to No. 24 remaining ladies from my favorite to least favorite:

17) Rachel, 23: Shout out to Rachel for being unemployed but still riding up on a hover board for her introduction. Unfortunately for Rachel, she didn’t receive much TV time so all we know about her is that she is unemployed.

18) Maegan, 30: Maegan was so proud of herself for upstaging the twins by bringing a pony to the mansion. That said, her dress choice did not upstage anyone.

19) Izzy, 24: Izzy thought it was a great idea to wear a onesie for her first impression with Ben. Nothing says you are taking this seriously like an adult onesie.

20) Jackie, 23: Jackie introduced herself to Ben with a save the date for her and Ben’s wedding, wedding hashtag and all. Fortunately for her Lauren R. upped the crazy by admitting she stalked Ben on social media for months, saving Jackie from elimination for one week.

21) Shushanna, 27: I don’t have much to say about Shushanna because unfortunately I do not speak Russian.

22) Leah, 25: If my mom watched me make an entrance to the show like Leah did, I think she would disown me. Bending over to snap a football in an evening dress is never a good look.

23) Mandi, 28: Another Bachelor type cast, Mandi is without a doubt the crazy chick of the season. She is apparently a dentist, but I am just curious of the number of people that actually let her touch their mouths with sharp tools.

24) Lace, 25: Lace had one too many glasses of wine, but it made for great TV. I kind of liked her at the beginning with her gorgeous dress, sarcastic comments, and facial expressions. However, by the end of the night she was full blown even confronting Ben about not giving her eye contact during the rose ceremony… after she already received a rose. I’m thinking Ben regret that decision, but thanks for another week of Lace sarcastic comments, Ben!

Unfortunately, Lauren R., the self-proclaimed stalker was eliminated on the first night. Maybe revealing that you stalk someone’s social media is more second date material. Laura, aka “red velvet” joined her on their limo ride to the airport. Laura’s excuse, “he’s just not into gingers,” or maybe he’s just not into women who refer to themselves as “red velvet.” Breanne cried her way out of the mansion after the rose ceremony, mainly because I think there was too much gluten in the house for her to handle. Lastly, Jessica also exited the mansion. She seemed sweet and genuine, which probably means she just wasn’t wild enough to keep the show entertaining.

#PSBSportsChop: Atlanta Falcons vs Carolina Panthers – December 31, 2015

By: Brandon Clay @PSBPopCulture

As an Atlanta Falcons fan, it’s been refreshing to see the team get into the playoffs four times since the 2008 season. This year hasn’t been the best but the Dirty Birds have still been competitive at 7-7 entering the Carolina game. The Panthers, on the other hand, were the league’s best team at 14-0. They are an NFC South rival and their quarterback, Cam “Dab” Newton, is a local guy having attended Westlake HS. Just two weeks ago, Newton and Company beat the Falcons 38-0 in Charlotte so a little payback was on the menu.

PSBPopCulture.com Team Member, Taylor Johnson, joined me in the Mountain Dew suite for this one and the atmosphere didn’t disappoint. I have to toss a huge shoutout to Floyd Ferjuste of PepsiCo. for the assist on this one. The Georgia Dome was packed with seemingly a 50/50 split of Falcons and Panthers fans. It was a huge win for the Falcons spearheaded by a highlight reel touchdown from All-Pro Wide Receiver, Julio Jones.

The game clinching stop by the Falcons defense:

#FreshStyleFits: Flare Jeans – December 17, 2015

Brandon Clay’s Note: In addition to assisting me with everything #TeamPSB on a daily basis in the office, Taylor Johnson manages to be one of the most fashionable people in Atlanta. She serves as my personal stylist. Together we develop a style going into each season that I can rock both inside and outside of the gym. Keep a close eye on all of her #FreshStyleFits pieces.

Skinny jeans aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, but flared jeans are making a comeback. Flared jeans are a dramatic piece to any simple outfit.

How to wear: I was introduced to the look after seeing celebrity fashion designer Rachel Zoe discussing the look recently. My take is that flared jeans look best with a great pair of healed booties in the fall and winter. The key to making them look right is to make sure they are the right length. With heels on the flared jeans should be almost touching the ground. The longer the jeans, the better for this dramatic jean look. I dropped my pair of Lucky Brand Brooke Flare jeans off at Brandon’s tailor today to make sure my jeans were the perfect length.

When to wear: Flared jeans are easy to dress up or dress down for a night on town or for a casual daytime outfit. I’ve got the jeans with some booties and an oversized sweater to dinner Friday night. I’ll post a picture afterwards.

Brands to buy:
Lucky Brand – “Brooke Flare” (pictured above)
7 for all Mankind – “Ginger Flare”
Hudson – “Taylor Flare”

#PSBSportsChop: Atlanta vs. Miami – December 15, 2015

By: Brandon Clay @PSBPopCulture and By: Jordan Davis @JDavisPSB

ATLANTA – With the Miami Heat in town, it was a perfect time to check out the Atlanta Hawks live in action for the first time since Opening Night. PSBPopCulture.com Team members Jordan Davis and Taylor Johnson were on hand for the action. The crowd was filled with music stars including Atlanta-based acts Keri Hilson sitting two rows in front of us and 2 Chainz across the floor sitting so close he could trip a ball player.

On the hardwood, Kent Bazemore (Hawks) and Chris Bosh (Heat) led their teams statistically as the Heat led this one from the start. Expect to see both of these teams in the Eastern Conference Playoffs with a rematch possible along the way.

#EntertainmentPSB: “Fixer Upper” – Season Premier – December 1, 2015

As a homeowner, I find myself paying more attention to channels like HGTV than I ever did growing up in my parents home. My love for the series “Fixer Upper” is a result of having gone through the home buying (and renovating) process. I was introduced to the series by my Operations intern, Taylor Johnson, and have really enjoyed the first two seasons.

By: Brandon Clay @PSBPopCulture

As the show gears up for its’ third season on HGTV, Chip and Joanna Gaines are back at it. The married couple displays a unique way to blend their careers of renovating homes for clients throughout central Texas while raising a family based in the town of Waco, Texas. The couple is in the process of making themselves the most popular item to come from the town since Baylor University quarterback Robert Griffin III won the Heisman Trophy in 2012. Before the show aired in 2013, the Gaineses had already renovated more than 100 homes building their Magnolia Homes business in the process.

In the third season, the two will tackle their toughest project to date as they build what is slated to be called “Magnolia Market.” It is scheduled to be completed sometime in July. In addition to silos and a warehouse that will contain the Magnolia Homes offices, part of the plan calls for a retail marketplace and an area for approximately 15 to 20 mobile food vendors and trucks. The WacoTrib reported that the city of Waco has contributed with a reported 208,376 in tax incentives to assist in the project. Even my dad, John Clay, is a big fan of the show and mentioned his excitement about the series premier over Thanksgiving Dinner last week.

Make sure to turn in to HGTV at 9 pm EST / 8 pm CST.

#iTunesSounds – Adele – “Hello” – October 25, 2015

Adele gave us “19” and “21” then took a break to live life for a while. On Thursday, we found out: she’s back. She’s been working on her latest project, “25”, since the summer and will release the album in its’ entirety on November 20th. I can’t speak for anyone besides myself but I’m thrilled to hear it.

SIDENOTE(S):

1) I’ll review both “19” and “21” in the weeks to come. If you missed either one, take a listen before “25” hits the shelves next month.

2) Assist to Blanche Alverson, Taylor Johnson and Dain Pool for the varying conversations since the single “Hello” dropped on Thursday.

By: Brandon Clay @BBallPlusMusic

“Hello” is the lead single off of “25” and has garnered over 40 million video views since the Thursday release. The track is classic Adele as her voice ramps up and floats over the soft melodies in the background. There is definitely not a rust after the hiatus. Truth be told, Adele’s voice seems richer and more mature given the four-year gap in since her last studio album. If “Hello” is any indication of what we can look forward to on November 20th, expect Adele to clean up in iTunes sales this holiday season as well as at the 2016 Grammy Awards.
