#PSBAllAccess: “Adrian Penland All-Star Game” – Apr. 11, 2017

Through his hard work and dedication to the community, Adrian Penland has established the premier postseason game for seniors in North Georgia. I was honored to serve as a judge for this year’s Slam Dunk Contest.

By: Brandon Clay @PSBPopCulture

The Breakdown:

I’ve known Adrian since we played against each other in high school. He was a star at West Hall High, went on to play at Lander University and went overseas to play professionally after that. Since then, AP has taken that experience and brought it back to the streets with a series of youth camps, tournaments and his All-Star Game. Former Atlanta Falcons, Jerious Norwood and Todd Weiner, as well as Alabama forward Daniel Giddens joined me as judges. I definitely wanted to bring my fashion A Game out of respect for what AP is in the process of building.

SIDENOTE: Congrats to #SMPMember, Taylor Anne Kelley, on winning the 3-point contest. Multiple event attendee, Hanna Grogan, won the game’s MVP as well.

HUGE shoutout goes to both Larry Rhinehart and Jordan Davis for the crisp pictures and quick turnaround time.

Here’s a breakdown of the outfit:

#PSBAllAccess: “Elite Basketball Academy Camp Director” – Mar. 10, 2017

When I started Peach State Basketball, I remembering telling my dad that I never saw the camp directors who ran the ones I grew up attending except for the first hour and last hour of camp. They definitely weren’t coaching my team at camp.

By: Brandon Clay @PSBPopCulture

I made myself a promise to grow the game by making sure all of our campers leave feeling like they learned something from me personally. Hopefully, when they stop playing that hands on influence will help them want to give back to the same game that has raised me.

Working with up-and-coming prospects like Isaiah Reed of Fla., make me remember my days at camp and how much I took away from each experience. It’s a privilege to be in this position not a right. I take that very seriously and am grateful to be able to work with the next generation. My biggest goal is to give them a person in their life who they can look up to. Hopefully, they see how hard I work and realize they can be even more productive as an adult than I ever will be.

Hopefully, our crew is just getting started and my actions will continue to lead us all the way down the pathway to success.

#PSBSportsChop: “Mind Over Body: Playing in the N.F.L. at 38” – Terence Newman – Mar. 10, 2017

It’s rare for a cornerback to survive a decade in the N.F.L. let alone 15 seasons. That’s exactly what Terence Newman of the Minnesota Vikings is in the process of doing. Most guys get moved from cornerback to safety as they age but Newman is defying the odds. He gives us a look at how he’s managed to beat the numbers:

By: Brandon Clay @PSBPopCulture

The Breakdown:

Newman provides a fairly in-depth breakdown of what he does to prepare all year long. He’s the oldest cornerback in the league by five years and made 1.65 million last season so I’m definitely paying attention to how he’s making it happen. It was a good read even for me as I continue to change my way of living (exercise and food intake).

#PSBSportsChop: “The Tree” – Jeff Capel – Mar. 10, 2017

Duke associate head basketball coach Jeff Capel III has long been a favorite of mine dating back to his playing days at Duke. Capel was so talented that legendary hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur wore his Blue Devil jersey at one point. Like us all, Capel III has a family. His father, Jeff II, was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease). Capel III took time to document the highs, lows and the stories that have defined his relationship with his father over the years in this article.

By: Brandon Clay @PSBPopCulture

The Breakdown:

This article almost brought me to tears. At one point, Capel is complaining about Duke wanting sympathy while starting on the No. 2 team in the country as a freshman.

Capel’s dad tells him β€œMan, SHUT THE F*** UP. Stop calling home and complaining. And just play.”

#iTunesSounds: Trey Songz – “Tremaine” – Mar. 3, 2017

Trey Songz has elevated himself to the top of the RnB world through a combination of his music and his appearance. Songz aka “Mr. Steal Your Girl” is back with his latest album on March 24th. He’s releasing a single a week to coincide with his web series, “The Playboy.” To date, he’s released three songs and it has a feel that reminds me of arguably his most complete studio ready album, Ready (2009).

By: Brandon Clay @PSBPopCulture

The Breakdown:

All three tracks are quality music. My favorite might be the most recent release, “Song Goes Off.” Listen to all three songs here:

#FreshStyleFits: β€œBrandon’s Closet” – Reebok Question’s – Mar. 3, 2017

Allen Iverson is pound-for-pound one of the best guards in NBA history. His partnership with Reebok has spanned more than 20 years producing one of the best selling signature shoes of all time in the Reebok Question’s. Reebok teamed up with the retailer RUVilla to re-release the shoe in an exclusive colorway.

#FreshStyleFits: “Brandon’s Closet” – Chance The Rapper x New Era – Feb. 16, 2017

Chance The Rapper had a banner 2016 capped off recently by winning multiple Grammy Awards off of a mixtape that was solely produced digitally with no hard copies distributed or sold. Along the way, he introduced his base to what has become his signature Chance 3 baseball cap. New Era teamed up with Chance to deliver four color ways of the product to market to start 2017.

By: Brandon Clay @PSBPopCulture

The Breakdown:

I love both the fit and simplistic design. It’s amazing how the branding has made the No. 3 synonymous with Chance worldwide in a year’s time. There isn’t a place that I go with it on where a Chance fan doesn’t make a comment about liking the cap.

#iTunesSounds: DJ Khaled feat. Beyonce and Jay-Z – “Shining” – Feb. 14, 2017

DJ Khaled has been on the rise since the tail end of last decade emerging as a mega marketing star in the process. On that end, Khaled enlisted the marketing promotion of Jay-Z’s RocNation in 2016. Since becoming a member of the R-O-C, Jay has blessed Khaled with “I Got The Keys” and now another one in “Shining.” This time, Mr. Carter brought his wife Beyonce along fresh off of the announcement that the couple will have twins later on this year. Khaled, who had a baby boy of his own recently, is making this song the lead single off his upcoming 10th studio album, “Thankful.”

Favorite Lyrics

Ran to the dealer bought twin Mercedes
European trucks for the twin babies
Don’t let me have a son I’m a fool
Send him to school in all my jewels
I want a boy and a girl to fight for truth
What ever God gives me I’m cool
