#TeenLifeStyle: FB’s Finest – May 25, 2016

By: Alli Lhamon @allilhamonn with commentary from Brandon Clay @PSBPopCulture

ALLI: Like most high schools, Flowery Branch has a diverse set of students. Here are a few who I walked the halls with everyday this school year who caught my eye with their style / social media presence.

Anna Grace Smathers | Sophomore

expression

A photo posted by anna-grace smathers (@annagrace62) on

ALLI: From her bubbly personality, trendy style, and adventurous attitude it’s really hard not to love her. I like this picture of Anna Grace because it’s trendy and unique. It also shows that Anna Grace is a fire individual.

BRANDON: I rock with her style. Super trendy but not excessive all at once. Her social presence is well crafted and put together. Slick stuff. Could she take Taylor Johnson’s spot as my future stylist? She just might.

Bree Locke | Senior

one more post because I got to see my love play

A photo posted by Breanna Locke (@breanna_locke) on

ALLI: Bree is really just a super cool individual to be around. Within the first ten seconds of talking to her or glancing at her Instagram, you will know two things:

1. She loves basketball
2. She LOVES Lebron James.

BRANDON: Bree’s love for Bron is undeniable. That said, Bree has some flavor of her own on the hardwood. Her social profile is dope cause she makes no apologies for who she is. Like it or love it. I’m with it.

John Mills | Junior

JMilli

ALLI: John is always either cracking jokes or getting buckets. I like this picture of John because of his flow. John has one of the nicest flow game at Flowery Branch.

BRANDON: The hair sets him apart. Even with a cool Nike sweat outfit on, the locks give him the juice. On the hardwood, Alli says he’s got next. I see ya fella.

Amanda Rockenbach | Senior

Amanda

ALLI: Amanda has the sweetest soul and one of the most beautiful voices in the Flowery Branch community. I love this picture of Amanda because she looks so effortlessly gorgeous, as always.

BRANDON: I listened to her Soundcloud last night. Her voice flows as effortlessly and smooth as her pictures on IG do. I like people who don’t have to “DTM” (do too much) to get their point across. Amanda’s vibe is a classic example of a non-DTM. Well done.

Elizabeth Darracott | Sophomore

London

ALLI: Elizabeth is the most driven and dedicated person at Flowery Branch. I love this picture of Elizabeth when she visited London. It shows her fashion forward style, and her drive to as dope an individual as possible.

BRANDON: I actually ran into Elizabeth the other day at LA Fitness. I applaud her discipline to stay in the gym building out the life she wants to live. That’s hard work. Rocking a fresh outfit while in London and capturing it on the Gram is hard work too. She pulled both off. Salute.

#PSBPopCulture: Summer ’16 Style Guide by Taylor Johnson – May 25, 2016

By: Taylor Johnson @KTaylorPSB

I have a habit of thinking that Nordstrom is the only store in the world, but they have every new trend I want so I can’t stay away. Here are a few essentials I get from Nordstrom just in time for summer:

Shirts

While shopping for a night out outfit I find myself drawn to every off the shoulder top in the store. Showing off your shoulders is definitely the trend right now. Nordstrom’s Savvy section has endless amounts of off the shoulder looks that you can dress down or dress up. I love the off shoulder shirt I got from Nordstrom with a bold floral print for a dressier look.

Shoes

Currently in every girl’s closet are: white converse and Birkenstocks. Birkenstocks are super comfy though not the look I am going for. However, subtle gladiator sandals are still fashion forward and won’t kill your feet all day either. They go great with almost anything from skinny jeans to dresses. Definitely a summer staple. Nordstrom has several options from Hinge, Sam Edelman, Topshop and Sam Edelman. Edelman is my personal favorite.

Jewelry

I am currently obsessed with Fabulina necklaces; great quality and in sync with the latest trends. They are an earthy style that can add something to any outfit. My personal favorites are the arrowhead necklaces but all of them look great with a simple top. I love adding a Fabulina necklace that is a completely different color than my outfit so it can really pop. Fab’rik boutiques carry Fabulina necklaces or you can shop online.

Make-Up

My Kylie Lipkit obsession hasn’t died yet. KoKo and Literally gloss basically go with me everywhere. However I am also obsessed with Anastasia makeup line that you can get at Nordstrom or even Ulta. I described their eyebrow gel to my friend Kaitlyn Burton as “life changing” which is dramatic but I love it that much. If your eyebrows don’t look good your entire face of makeup can look off. Lastly, Anastasia has an amazing powder contour kit that is so easy to use with an angle brush. Every make up account on social media is always talking about contouring but their kit is kind of fool proof and takes your make up to the next level.

#FreshStyleFits: Summer ’16 Style Guide by Brandon Clay – May 24, 2016

By: Brandon Clay @PSBPopCulture

Hats

For the most part, I stick with a combination of New Era fitted / snapback and Jordan Brand hats. I like the flavor that a crisp hat brings to the top of the outfit when it’s done right. From time to time, I’ll still rock a Polo Ralph Lauren baseball cap like Alli Lhamon mentioned that she rocks as well. Suzanne Eubank, one of my fashion go-to’s, says baseball hats should be worn with the bill clean and to the front. I rock with that though I must admit I stray from her theory on occasion.

Jackets

No matter where my travels take me, I’ll still keep a lightweight Lifted Anchors bomber jacket or hoodie with me until the end of June. I put Jordan Davis on them before spring break came and went. Temperatures vary so much when the sun goes down that the extra layer can add to the outfit while still matching the weather.

Shirts

Whether it’s from Lifted Anchors or John Elliott, the extended or asymmetric tee is still the way to go for me. I rocked them tough this winter with a jacket. I have a wide variation of colors and styles in the closet but the Lifted Anchors Penny tee or John Elliott Distressed Classic are great for any occasion. A huge shoutout to my personal stylist, Taylor Johnson, is necessary for the assist on this look. As an aside, being in the gym consistently is a major key to pulling these shirts off the right way.

I like Polo button up shirts when it’s 85 degrees and under especially if there is going to be shade at an outdoor concert. I also keep the Polo v-neck on deck as the weather heats up too.

Situation: @maddie_hetzel03 & @Breanna_Locke's Graduation Party was 🔥

Pants

It all depends on the day and location but Embellish Demin’s are lightweight which works even with the temperature rising. I also keep a crisp pair of Polo shorts on deck. I wear basketball clothes all the time for work so I like to step it up with my style when I get out of the house.

Sneakers

There are so many options out for a sneakerhead like myself. The Retro Jordan Brand Collection is a staple in my closet. I love the OVO X and OVO XII’s especially, got my hands on em early. This year, I’ve added a low top look with the Nike Presto this summer. They are the lightest shoes that I’ve rocked. I’ll always have room in my rotation for the timeless Polo low tops on my feet to complete the cycle.

Status: Got my hands on these early. Slated to drop in stores Summer '16. 👟: #Jordan #OVO12s by Drake | #SoleFlow

Accessories

I like to keep a clean watch on my wrist. The Apple Watch is a must grab and remains my go to through the summer. With all the band options, it’s easy to switch the style up from the gym to the weight room to the beach while keeping the watch in play. Elite Basketball Academy standout, Sydney Parrish agrees with me.

#TeenLifeStyle: Summer ’16 Style Guide by Alli Lhamon – May 23, 2016

By: Alli Lhamon @allilhamonn

Hats

I love the Classic Polo Hats for summertime because they literally go with anything. Any girl from a tomboy, all the way down to a girly-girl can pull off a polo hat with their outfit. I wear polo hats with a number of outfits, especially when I don’t feel like doing my hair!

Crop Tops

Crop tops are a necessity for every girl during the summertime. I love crop tops because they are the easiest and most comfortable way to dress while still looking cute. I love crop tops from Forever 21 and Pacsun. At both stores, I buy plain crop tops, patterned crop tops, sleeved and sleeveless crop top so I’m ready for any summertime event.

Patterned Shorts

I haven’t really paid patterned shorts much attention in the past, but this summer I began to love them. They are so comfortable and cute. Patterned shorts from Forever 21 and Pacsun can literally be worn to any and all summer occasions. I love wearing the comfy patterned shorts with a plain shirt and sandals or converse.

Rompers

Rompers are my go to this summer for fancier events. I hate wearing dresses, so rompers are the perfect alternate for me because they are still as nice and cute as a dress, but they are so much more comfortable. I love rompers from Forever 21 the most. The floral print rompers there are my absolute favorite.

#iTunesSounds: Four to Know – May 18, 2016

By: Jordan Davis @JDavisPSB and Brandon Clay @PSBPopCulture

1) Panda by Fabolous

Fab comes through on arguably the hottest song of the year to date with a verse that is even cleaner than the beat. Just listen… — Brandon Clay

Favorite Line: “You ain’t fam I don’t trust ya. Brothas will jam up your hustle. Your own man wanna crush ya, that’s a D’Angelo Russell.” (a slick reference to the Russell / Nick Young fiasco in LA earlier this year)

2) Grab The Wheel by Lil Uzi

To be completely honest I’m not a Lil Uzi fan and even my roommate Dom (@PrinceJones06) can tell you that I hated whenever he put it on in the car. But this song is definitely extremely catchy and rides when you’re in the car with your friends. I have to give credit to my boy K Rock (@krockmcclain) for showing me this one. — JD Davis

Favorite Line: “Rocking shows, I might get a lake house with a boat. I might rock all white just like the Pope.”

3) The Man by Nav

The moment I heard this song I knew I had to throw it in my rotation. This is my first time hearing this artist but he’s got a dope new style. The chill tone of the song along with the rappers laid back style gives the track a smooth vibe. — JD Davis

Favorite Line: “Now she dancing like Billy Jean she wanna go home, And she wanna go wit me cause. She know I’m the man, she got no money she got no plans, Designer Pants.”

4) Tru by Lloyd

Lloyd has been away from the scene since his hit, “Lay It Down” in 2011. He’s back with this one and explains some of the issues that he’s dealt with in the interim. — Brandon Clay

Favorite Line: Apologies if I ever let you down, so much ish done happened that it’s hard to talk about. So many losses that my lawyer said don’t talk about it. Just had to pray and keep it cool til I could walk up out it. Came home helped my sister raise her child, kinda hurt me cause I could have had my own now. Lost my baby and it’s starting to hit home now.

#EntertainmentPSB: “The Bachelorlette” – Candidate Announcement – May 17, 2016

It’s that time of year again: Bachelorette season! May 23rd is right around the corner so obviously I have been researching all of the men in line for JoJo’s heart, or their TV fame debut, but whatever. As always there are some interesting men with even weirder occupations: a hipster (that’s a worse job than “twin”), an erectile dysfunction specialist (even worse job than hipster), and a self proclaimed Bachelor super fan. Here are my top five standouts based solely off of their bios, oh and looks, on ABC.

By: @KTaylorPSB

Chase, 27: The medical sales rep is one of the few guys on this list that is attractive and actually has a real occupation. He seems like a genuine, laid back guy that someone could actually date outside of this show.

Jordan, 27: Jordan is very Josh Murray déjà vu. He is the younger, less successful, brother of Aaron Rodgers who apparently also tried to play Pro Football but his current occupation is “Former Pro Quarterback.” Like Josh, Jordan is at least the good looking brother so I think JoJo will keep him around for a while.

Jonathan, 29: Jonathan also has a real job like Chase so that automatically put him towards the top in my book. He is a technical sales rep and also might be the first Asian guy on the Bachelorette, at least that I know of. He seems to have a good sense of humor with great taste in movies: Forrest Gump, Toy Story, and The 40 Year Old Virgin. However, he apparently makes an entrance in a kilt so I am hoping that is just his attempt at being funny and that he tones down the weird later on.

Grant, 27: Grant made the top five for really one reason, he is an extremely good looking firefighter. However, I am not sure he is exactly boyfriend material because in his bio he mentions being slapped by his ex and things he does when hooking up with other girls. For now I am willing to pretend I didn’t read that and just think of him as the tall, dark, and handsome firefighter.

James Taylor, 29: I immediately looked up this guy’s bio because he was the only guy with two first names, Ricky Bobby style. He is a singer/songwriter that could possibly be on the show just to get his name out there, but I don’t think anyone has started a music career from the Bachelor in 20 seasons so lets hope that isn’t true. Overall he seems like a fun guy!

#FreshStyleFits: Summer ’16 Style Guide by JD Davis – May 16, 2016

This summer, I’m paying close attention to the Instagram’s of some of my favorite dressed people. Devin Booker does a nice job with his look (@dbook) as does my boy Odell Beckham Jr. (@iam_objxiii). Here’s what you can look for me to rock all Summer Sixteen:

By: Jordan Davis @JDavisPSB

Shorts

Sweat Shorts are essential to my closet in that I can throw them on with some sandals when I hit the lake or even with a pair of low top vans for when I’m headed to the city. Perfect combination of comfortability and style. I prefer Nike SB which Pacsun keeps in stock.

Shirts

A lot of my shirts this summer are going to be from H&M simply because I keep it simple in this category. I’m really starting to get into the long sleeves that have the top two buttons (leave the top unbuttoned). Also H&M as a great collection of the long tees (regular and asymmetric) they sell for about $8. I’ll do the occasional Ralph Lauren long sleeve button up for a clean look.

Tanks

Expect me to come out the box this season like I’m “Tank Top Shawty” as Brandon Clay likes to say. I’ve been putting in the work fitness wise this school year (S/O to @YaBoyTG) so I’m rocking the tanks heavy this summer. Urban Outfitters has a great selection from Stussy Tanks to their own personal OU brand.

Pants

I’m a heavy advocator of the black or brown pants look because of the way it balances out a light colored top. I buy my black pants (regular and distressed) strictly from Pacsun because the Bullhead brand is made just right. Also I’ll throw in some light colored distressed jeans that go great with anything from white v necks to bombers.
